Metals Engineering Expertise in Alloy Steel Forgings

Rickards Metals can offer expertise in Alloy Steel Forgings.

Alloy steels encompass a wide range of iron-based metals that contain higher levels of chromium that do not exceed 3.99%. Metals that contain greater amounts of chromium are classified as stainless. Alloy steels vary in their alloying elements, which determine the properties of a particular material.

Rickard Metals can provide 4130, 4140, 4150, chromium-molybdenum steels. The forgings made from these materials are tough and have high fatigue strengths.

4330, 4340, 8630, 9310 also contain chromium-molybdenum but have an addition element of nickel making these materials useful for application involving exposure to heat. By heat-treating theses materials as well as case hardening the strength, toughness, and wear characteristics in addition to fatigue strength improve remarkably.

52100 is a low alloy steel, that contains high levels of chromium and carbon. Harden 52100 exhibits excellent wear characteristics and corrosion resistance.

Nitralloy 135, a low alloy steel is known as a nitriding grade and is a good material for case hardening. Products made from this alloy have high levels of resilience and hardness.

Rickards Metals and Engineering has a wealth of knowledge at your disposal for whatever project or product. We are experienced with Alloy Steel Forgings ranging from the aerospace industry to the petrochemical industry and beyond.
