6061 Aluminum Alloy

Aluminum 6061 is a precipitation hardening alloy exhibiting good mechanical and welding characteristics. Often used in aircraft construction, automotive components and bridge engineering, alloy 6061 is one the most popular aluminums due to its high strength, toughness, and excellent corrosion resistance. Because of its superb surface finish and availability, AL 6061 is also commonly used in consumer products including food and beverage packaging and cans, as well as private jets, yachts, and boats. Alloy 6061 is primarily aluminum based, with manganese being the other major chemical property involved. Standard specifications for AL 6061 include AMS 4117, ASTM B209 and more.
